Off Topic, will consist of some of my favorite things. Sharing is what I love to do…especially if it something that will help or uplift someone else. I love reading but some of my other favorite things include maintaining my natural hair, healthy food cooking, and attempting new decorating ideas. I am not an expert in any of these areas but I enjoy trying them.
I found a great recipe for a natural facial scrub that I absolutely love and it is very easy to make.
You will need:
1 small glass jar/container
Your choice of Almond, Grape-seed, Olive or Coconut Oil
With 2-3 tablespoons of brown sugar add in oil slowly and just enough to moisten the sugar without making it runny. After you have mixed the ingredients, use your fingers to apply the mixture to your face using a circular motion. Wipe clean with a warm cloth and feel the softness. Be sure to clean your face as you normally would before applying the scrub.
My Very Best Breakfast Smoothie
In a Blender or NutriBullet mix:
1 Cup of Soy or Almond Milk
1/2 Cup of Yogurt (or 1 individual serving cup)
1 Cup of fresh Spinach or Kale
1/2 Packet of Carnation Breakfast Essentials Protein Powder (I prefer Vanilla)
1 Teaspoon of Flax seeds
5 or 6 Strawberries (and/or blueberries)
Mix until smooth and enjoy! This is my usual go to breakfast during the week. I will also use this as a replacement meal on the weekends.
A Natural Deodorant (Homemade)
In a bowl or jar mix:
5 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
4 Tablespoons of Baking Soda (non- aluminum)
3 Tablespoons of Arrowroot
2 Tablespoons of Benzonite Clay
5 drops of Essential Tea Tree Oil
Mix until smooth. Store in a glass jar. Be sure to use plastic measuring tools instead of metal ones.
Whipped Shea Body Butter
This is a very easy recipe. My whole family loves this one!
1 Cup of Raw Shea Butter
2 Tablespoons of Coconut Oil
1 Teaspoon of Almond Oil (jojoba, olive or avocado oil can be substituted here)
1/2 Teaspoon of Rosemary Essential Oil
1/2 Teaspoon of Lavender Essential Oil
I use a hand mixer to whip these ingredients. Mix until ingredients are fluffy and smooth. Place in an air tight jar and enjoy. Some people like to melt the shea butter before adding it to the mixture. I prefer not to because it changes the consistency of the mix once it settles again. Also, if shea butter is not your thing, try raw mango butter or raw cocoa butter instead. You can add either a half cup of mango butter or cocoa butter with the shea butter to create your own unique body butter. Substitute the essential oils for any essential oil scent of your choice.
Natural Facial Cleanser
This is my go to and a staple in my facial cleansing rotation.
In a bottle with a pump mix:
3 Tablespoons of Almond Oil
3 Tablespoons of Grape-seed Oil
2 Ounces of Castilles Soap ( I prefer Castilles Lavender)
10 Drops of Tee Tree Essential Oil
To mix the ingredients together I gently roll the bottle between the palm of my hands before each use. DO NOT SHAKE to mix.
